Our hospital is fully equipped to take radiographs (often called x-rays) of your pet. Our veterinarians will discuss your pet’s case and conduct a thorough physical examination to determine if your pet requires radiographs. Radiographs are a very important tool to help us diagnose diseases in animals, particularly for conditions involving bones, the chest or abdomen.
For x-rays, your pet will require sedation or anesthesia. This ensures we can obtain high-quality images while minimizing discomfort, especially since we often treat pets that are unwell or in pain. Sedation or anesthesia helps keep them as comfortable as possible during the process. Most pets would not stay still or be positioned correctly for a clear x-ray without this.
Typically, radiography patients are admitted for the day, unless it’s an emergency, in which case we’ll proceed right away. We kindly ask that you bring your pet fasting on the morning of admission.
