Dr Joy Chuang

Joy is one of our enthusiastic New Graduate Veterinarians, bringing a warm, compassionate approach and a genuine love for helping pets and their people every day. Originally from Brisbane, Joy graduated from James Cook University in 2026 after falling in love with North Queensland during her studies and deciding to make it home.

Joy’s favourite part of being a veterinarian is seeing pets recover and return to their happy, healthy selves, while sharing those special moments with the families who love them. She has a growing interest in surgery and diagnostic imaging and is especially excited to continue developing her ultrasound skills.

While she currently doesn’t have any pets in Cairns, Joy has a very special foster-failure pup back in Brisbane named Sparkles. Spoilt by the whole family, Sparkles is bilingual, knows her name in Mandarin, and even has her own rain boots and rain jacket!

When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll usually find Joy searching for Cairns’ best cafés, playing a round of golf, relaxing at the beach, cooking up a delicious meal, or winding down with a good TV series (and something sweet for dessert).

Known for her caring nature, positive attitude, and enthusiasm for learning, Joy is a wonderful addition to our team. Your pets are in kind and capable hands with her – though if she had the choice, she’d probably be living life as Neil the Seal, soaking up the sunshine with a little cheeky mischief along the way!
